Dragging
Technical Practice
If the hair of the bow is placed on the string, pressed into it then pulled upwards with no horizontal movement, a dry creak can be produced. The intensity of the sound increases with the speed of the articulation and with increased pressure. Notes The tone varies according to which part of the bow hair is used. If the hair in the middle of the bow (where it is loosest) the resultant sound is more complex. Where the hair is tighter (such as at the frog) the sound has more pitch and is generally more focused in sound quality. Dynamic Range: pp-mf Difficulty: 1 Special Notes: |
