Pizzicato Harp Harmonics
Technical Practice
The thumb of either hand rests on a node point of the harmonic series. The free fingers of the same hand then plucks the string, activating the harmonic. The thumb is the immediately released from the string allowing the harmonic to fully vibrate. Notes Developed and perfected by Stefano Scodanibbio and used in many of his works, this technique involves the pizzicato of natural harmonics with either or both hands. The technique mimics that used by harpists and, great speed and dexterity can be achieved. Dynamic Range: pp-ff Difficulty: 3-4 Special Notes: Cannot be performed two handed whilst holding the bow. |
