Battuto with Bow Tip

Technical Practice
The tip of the bow is used to strike the string. The rigidity of the arm position when using this technique allows for a faster repetition than standard legno, and more of the subsidiary pitch can be heard.

Notes
This technique produces a lighter percussive sound than standard col legno battuto or gettato.

Dynamic Range: pp-f
Difficulty: 2

Notation
  • Verbal instruction with altered notehead.
