CHORDS
This section details the chordal possibilities of the instrument. Basic chord types are explained in minimal detail whilst more complex variations such as triple and quadruple stops are dealt with in more detail.
Arco and pizz possibilities are given along with explanation.
The lowest possible combination is always given. For a Five string or instrument with C extension transpose the chord by a fourth or the lowest note only to a C respectively.
Note: Whilst all of the simple variations are available in all registers, they become incresasingly difficult to perform accurately as tessitura ascends. Sustain also decreases as pitch increases.
All chords shown below relate to a specific hand position. As the combination of intervals is given along with the highest and lowest possible chords using each hand position, assume that all chormatic variations of the chord are possible within the specified range as the use the same hand position.
