Use Of The Thumb In Lower Positions

Thumb position can be used in lower positions either to provide an expanded intervalic range or to facilitate the executionsof moving material without the need for shifting. 
The expanded lowest intervals are:
  • A major third on the same string
  • A sixth on adjacent strings
  • A ninth with on string space (sul g&a or d&e)
  • A twelfth on outer two strings.

Special Notes: 
Requires no specific notation other than fingering.

  • T or Ϙ over the note denotes thumb.
