Thumb Pizzicato
Technical Practice
The technical practice for thumb pizzicato is the same as for a standard pizzicato but substitutes the use of the fingers for the thumb. The side of the string used for pizzicato however, is reversed i.e; the side of the string facing the body. Notes Thumb Pizzicato produces a broader, more resonant sound than a standard Pizz produced with the fingertips but has a less definite attack at the start of the note. Velocity in this technique is somewhat limited. As with normal pizzicato, velocity is limited. Dynamic Range: pp-f Difficulty: 1-4 Special Notes: Upper dynamic range is slightly reduced. |
